Danfoss Talks Refrigerant Regulatory Issues, Showcases Natural Refrigerant Project Success at ATMOsphere America 2013
Danfoss sponsored and participated in ATMOsphere America 2013, June 18-19 in Washington, D.C. Now in its second year, ATMOsphere America discussed natural refrigerant trends, latest technologies and regulatory issues in the United States and Canada.

Taking a look at natural refrigerants, Jim Hower, industrial refrigeration sales manager for Danfoss, and CIMCO Refrigeration presented a technology case study at the conference. Ask Terry
Q: I heard that Danfoss Industrial Refrigeration is changing the way they will offer spare parts for industrial refrigeration valves. Can you tell me more about this change?

A: Danfoss IR recently embarked on a program to update and streamline our spare parts program. After reviewing how our customers were using repair components and to reduce both complexity and cost, we decided to upgrade our spare parts program.

The most significant change is that for many valve types we have updated our repair parts portfolio to supply “kits” opposed to individual components. This better matches how our customers have been using the components to maintain their valves. Some components and accessories that do not easily align with our new kit concept will continued to be offered as they are today. Good examples are flanges, bolts, and caps.

The new kits will come with the required components typically needed to perform a specific function on the valve - Inspect, Repair, or Overhaul. As an example, below is what will be included in the kits for our SVA shutoff valve platform.

Inspection Kit: All gaskets, O-rings and aluminum rings for both old and new generations

Repair Kit: All parts included in the inspection kit plus a complete packing gland.

Overhaul Kit: All parts included in the repair kit plus parts that typically wear out and should be replaced when performing an overhaul procedure. In this example, the SVA overhaul kit will include a new stop valve cone and seat. While we are talking about spare parts, did you know that Danfoss IR has a Spare Parts App for your smart phone or tablet? Now finding the correct kit number and easy and at your fingertips.

Danfoss Celebrates 80 Years of Global Innovation
On September 1, it will have been 80 years since Mads Clausen founded Danfoss in his parents’ farmhouse in Nordborg, Denmark. Since then, the business has grown from a solo enterprise into one of the world's leading suppliers of energy-efficient and innovative solutions, employing a staff of 23,000 and with sales in more than 100 countries. Gaining an early footing on emerging markets and a clear focus on innovative products for its customers is part of the reason for this.

Right from the start, Danfoss had an international outlook. The company began exporting to other European countries as early as 1939, and in 1949, Danfoss set up its first foreign sales company in Argentina. During the 1950s, Danfoss established itself in USA and Germany, and when globalization began to pick up speed in the 1990s, Danfoss was prepared, with factories and sales companies in both Russia and China. Today, these four countries are Danfoss' biggest markets.
